Preview of the Arts is proud to present visual artists and choreographers with the opportunity to showcase their work at The Highline Loft, a gallery located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.  This series of events and opportunities taking place between March 14th and 28th, 2013 coincides with the relaunch of Artist Collective NYC, an online database featuring and promoting artists working in all artistic disciplines and meant to inspire interdisciplinary artistic collaborations.

THE MISSION
Through opportunities ranging from group art shows to choreographic residencies, live music to visual and performing art showcases for NYC youth, the Artist Collective NYC residency at The Highline Loft will offer up-and-coming artists of all ages and artistic backgrounds the opportunity to share their work with a vibrant community of artists and art lovers.  Led by Preview of the Arts in collaboration with The Creators Collective and A New Seed NYC, these performances and events will help build a strong network of artists and audiences interested in the creation and exposure of essential, cutting-edge art.

THE VENUE
The Highline Loft, located at 508 West 26th Street, is a strikingly beautiful space that offers endless possibilities for artistic creation and presentation.  Located in the heart of Chelsea, this venue is also a convenient destination for art lovers interested in the neighborhood's visual arts scene and the natural and inspiring beauty that The Highline, located across the street, has to offer.

THE OPPORTUNITY
VISUAL ART - Ten visual artists will be selected to present their work in a group show at The Highline Loft from Wednesday, March 20th-Wednesday, March 27th with an opening reception on Thursday, March 21st and a closing reception on Wednesday, March 27th.

DANCE - Three choreographers will each have access to The Highline Loft for a number of hours between Thursday, March 14th and Thursday, March 28th to create a site-specific piece that will be performed following the residency from Thursday, March 28th-Sunday, March 31st.

Visual artists selected to display their work at The Highline Loft will also be featured on the Artist Collective NYC website for two weeks leading up to the opening on March 21st.  Choreographers participating in the residency from March 14th-28th, will be featured on the website during the month of April.  All artists selected to participate in either the group art show or the site-specific choreographic residency will be marketed by Preview of the Arts leading up to and during the events.

THE APPLICATION
Through an open call, visual artists are encouraged to submit a portfolio of their work and choreographers are asked to submit a video.  Upon paying the $10 application fee, all applicants will receive an email from Preview of the Arts with further instructions on how to apply and information about the venue and residency programs.  While this is an open call, Preview of the Arts is looking for works that reflect the mission of the organization and its registry component, Artist Collective NYC.

Preview of the Arts presents notable work from the upcoming arts season to generate excitement among audiences, consumers, young, emerging and established artists, through multi-disciplinary showcases, A-list performing arts events and educational outreach. As a multi-faceted not-for-profit organization, Preview of the Arts is committed to exposing all visual and performing arts disciplines to its growing audience; and in turn, lead an ongoing conversation between arts organizations, artists and audiences.
