Comedy Double Feature - Kristine Levine & Lonnie Bruhn
The neighborhood molester couldn't be bothered to abduct her children because they're too fat. Her sex life is an exotic journey akin to "going around the world in 80 men." And you really don't want to know what the customer at the adult store did with that sausage, but you're going to hear all the deliciously gory details.
Kristine Levine is a blonde, tattooed, proudly overweight single mother who raised three "moon-faced" kids while working as a porn clerk in Portland, OR. As a comedian, her refreshing candor and unflinching, twisted perspectives on life, love and dysfunction have earned her a reputation as a biting, brutal cross between Lenny Bruce and Roseanne Barr. From videotaping the anthropomorphic exploits of sex toys and using a co-worker's semen to exact revenge on customers to clearing a dead body from a video booth, Kristine has seen and done it all and lived to tell the riotous tales.
Yet underneath her "shocking" exterior, Kristine is as genuine and disarming in real life as she is for a rollicking hour onstage. Simultaneously empowering and endearing, she gleefully plunders uncharted stand-up territory as a sweetly ambivalent Every gal who women fear yet are inexplicably drawn toand who men fear yet are inexplicably drawn to.
In addition to regularly touring the country, Kristine has lived in Egypt, served as a radio DJ and boasts numerous commercials and voiceovers to her name. She most recently appeared in Lorne Michaels and Fred Armisen's Portlandia and will next been seen alongside such comic notables as Paul Provenza and Brendon Walsh in feature stand-up documentary The Unbookables.
"She's a sweet and honest woman who will destroy your soul with amazing comedy." Timmy Williams, The Whitest Kids U Know
"One of the few comics who doesn't seem to gather her material via her remote control Lucky crowds had their sensibilities challenged, tested and happily bruised, black and blue." The Oregonian
"An original talent in the current comedy scene. Kristine Levine's stories are as honest as they are funny. A comedian that you would like to have a beer or 12 with and probably will after the show." Jon Green, booker/manager, Stage Left Comedy Entertainment
With over twenty years of experience, the praise Mr. Bruhn receives comes with good reason. His radical comedy, coupled with his heart-felt devotion to honesty and his commendable stance against judgmental attitudes are descriptions of his character that barely scratch the surface of his show.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, Bruhn understood early on what it was like to be different and judged. However, he isn't like any comedian with a disability riffing cute hack jokes about his ailments. Instead it is his honest and candid approach to all aspects of life that he chooses to share with his audiences.
Lonnie shows to all of us that he's not crippled, the world is. When he takes the stage, a special connection happens with him and his audience, and this spark literally bursts through his edgy material and routines; allowing him the opportunity to say just what is on his mind without offending the people he performs to.
His audience roars with laughter and wonders what this man could possibly think of next as he offers relentlessly truthful commentary on societal taboos, sexuality and an extensive spectrum of topics handled with an unmatched, fierce candor that is purely his.
"He's top-grade funny. Not just 'he's pretty good but I don't really watch after the first night' palatable, but right on your ass funny. Really funny"
-DOUG STANHOPE FROM COMEDY CENTRAL'S "THE MAN SHOW"
"As laughter exploded around him, every face was beaming in his direction"
"Lonnie Bruhn gives a black-eye to comedy."
"Another 'craft of comedy' clinic. Such a thing of beauty to experience and then Lonnie makes you forget about the clipboard and you just laugh til you cry and go home wondering how he makes that magic happen so consistently. He ruins the excuse of a 'bad audience'
