Healing Power of Music Benefit Concert
The Healing Power of Music Benefit Concert is in its 5th year. The music at the event varies from classical to popular choral works. The Concert features the ensembles of The Maryland State Boychoir, including the Tour Choir, Concert Choir and Changed Voice Choir. The young men and boys of the The Maryland State Boychoir hail from across the State of Maryland. Founded in in 1987, the choir serves as "Official Goodwill Ambassadors" of the state, performing throughout Maryland, nationally and internationally. The Boychoir is dedicated to providing a diverse group of talented young men and boys a broad and holistic musical education. The young men and boys in the choir receive musical training, develop friendships with boys from varied backgrounds, and build self-esteem and self-discipline through hard work and dedication. The choir performs 80 times each year throughout Maryland and the United States. Visit www.marylandstateboychoir.org for more information. The choir is under the direction of Mr. Stephen Holmes.
The Healing Power of Music Chorus represents a collaboration between The Prevention and Research Center at Mercy Medical Center and The Maryland State Boychoir. The chorus includes cancer survivors, health care providers, community friends and parents of boychoir members. All share a love of music and appreciate the healing power that music brings to our lives.
The Prevention and Research Center at Mercy Medical Center offers the Cancer Recovery Program, a unique set of wellness initiatives integrating mind, body and spirit for patients, their children and caregivers, and those at increased risk of cancer. Our hope is to integrate music therapy into these programs on an ongoing basis. With your help and support we can continue to offer these programs to patients and their families and make the Healing Power of Music Chorus an ongoing endeavor, building community and promoting wellness through music.
