From the melodic and lyrical, to the grooving and energetic, Ayers and Werner will bring their eclectic acoustic stylings to this intimate setting. Wine and small bites are included and will be available before the show and during intermission. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
Address: 2329 Wilson Ave. Venice Beach, CA 90291
More info on the performers:
Adam Werner www.adamwerner.com
Adam Werner is a solo acoustic guitarist with an interest in unconventional techniques, styles and applications to fingerstyle guitar playing. He has an impressive musical background of experience and education. Adam continues to move forward and grow as an accomplished musician and artist. Indigenous to California, Adam grew up with rock guitar legends, such as: Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, among many others. Adam started his first rock band, IMAGINE, in the early 1990's and gained much respect as an innovative and progressive musician who incorporated odd meters, unorthodox key changes and intricate instrumentation with compositions that pushed the boundaries of rock music.
He soon found the desire to explore the acoustic guitar when introduced to Windham Hill and its artists, such as: William Ackerman and Michael Hedges. Soon after, Adam decided this was the direction he was destined to go. Adam Werner's debut label release, "Signatures," has become a new addition to solo acoustic guitar. This album is a culmination of emotionally intense compositions with technically exceptional playing and profound musical energy. Merging the traditions of finger-style techniques with provocative percussive elements adds an extra flavor to this music.
He has performed with such people as Alex de Grassi, Michael Manring, William Coulter, Ben Verdery, Hawaiian Slack-Key Master John Keawe and Antonio Calogero, among others.
Ryan Ayers www.ryanayersmusic.com
Ryan Ayers is a solo guitarist mixing together classical technique with accessible songs forms and structures. His stage show is a well crafted blend of engaging music and interesting stories. He recently took 2nd place at the Guitar Fest Live Competition in Livermore, CA sponsored by Guitar Player and KFOG. His album "ermita" has received positive reviews from all factions of the guitar world from classical players Andrew York and Roland Dyens, to fingerstyle great Ed Gerhard, and even rock and roll legend Andy Summers of The Police.
Ryan began playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He attended Loyola Marymount University and graduated with degrees in classical guitar performance and recording arts. It was there that he began his studies with classical guitarist Martha Masters.
An active composer for over ten years, Ryan released his first record of ten original pieces for guitar entitled ermita in 2011. In 2012, he published the corresponding sheet music and tablature. These pieces employ classical guitar technique to explore the reaches of steel string and finger style guitar. A gifted melodist, Ryan also likes to experiment with gestures, textures, and rhythmic ideas in his compositions.
