INTRODUCTION TO WORKING ACTORS FOR ACTORS
Working actors for actors is not your typical acting workshop. It is designed to give the realities of working in the film and television industry and the truth about the challenges it can hold.
Many purely acting workshops focus on the craft alone. Many other workshops cover what you need to start in the business of acting. Getting headshots, finding an agent, etc. This workshop takes it a step further.
Chris Darga and Sean Whalen are two recognizable working actors that have 50 years experience between them. Because they are character actors they have worked in every acting genre possible. From independent movies to large budget movies; from commercials to theater; from kid's cable networks to prime time, they have seen and done it all. They know the success strategies and pit falls better than anyone because they have lived them and are continuing to live them every day.
In their workshop they will cover the realities of auditioning in the current market. They will discuss realistic strategies on coping with the ever-changing entertainment business and they will share their personal lessons and stories from years of experience working on sets.
If you are looking for a day that will teach you or your students what it is really like to live and work as an actor in Hollywood, than WORKING ACTORS FOR ACTORS is what you need.
AUDITION BOOTCAMP
Many acting teachers say, "Acting is Reacting" or "Living truthfully under an imaginary circumstance." Unfortunately, these tenants, often don't mesh with the reality of auditioning in today's fast-paced entertainment industry. Oftentimes actors face casting departments who run their auditions without looking at you or without even acknowledging your presence. And rarely are you given the luxury of reading with an actor at your audition.
Chris and Sean take the actor through an audition boot camp to see if they can handle a variety of challenging situations. They will teach the actors how to prepare and give a great audition.
Each participant will get a short scene to audition with. The scenes will be general so the actor can make personal choices with how they want to approach the role. When they get to the workshop the auditions will start immediately. Chris and Sean will then take them through different scenarios that can frequently occur and are based on their actual experiences. The point here is to be ready for the unexpected because the unexpected always occurs. When it does, Chris and Sean will make sure the class is better prepared to overcome any challenges.
This is unlike any other cold reading workshop and an invaluable tool for the working actor. If an actor can do well in "Audition Boot camp" - they can do well on any audition.
THE NO REGRETS, TWO YEAR PLAN and SUSTAINING A CAREER SEMINAR
The NO REGRETS TWO YEAR PLAN is a tool to attack your career of acting for at least two years with the best possible focus. Many talented actors come to Hollywood with plays under their belt or a college theater degree in hand, but they have no clue as to the business and survival side of the acting profession. Chris and Sean will not only cover the basics: how to get a SAG card and how to meet casting directors, etc. But they will also explore strategies to overcome the modern day challenges that await today's actor. THE SUSTAINING A CAREER SEMINAR takes it a step further. The truth is getting an agent, and waiting for the phone to ring is not enough any more. You have to be more proactive, creative, and knowledgeable about show business and how it works than ever before. Chris and Sean know this firsthand and will share their insights to the class in a point-by-point presentation. Take notes as you will want to remember this invaluable information.
