Hudson & Harlan with special guest Bob Cheevers
This just got elevated to an all-star cast performance at the Rear Window. Brian Hudson & Matt Harlan with be joined, onstage with Bob Cheevers. This is, without a doubt, going to be a first class, fabulous evening of a world class singer & songwriter performance. Get your tickets now! By the way ... tonight's entree is Lori's famous Chicken Fried Steak!!!

This will be Matt Harlan's fourth time at the Rear Window, and Brian Hudson's second. Each has been touring all over the world since his last time here, so we are looking forward to, not only new music, but some great stories of their adventures. Matt has won various awards for his songwriting, and he knows his way around the guitar, too! This is going to be a wonderful evening with some awesome music. Come on over!

If there's a performer today that embodies the oft-applied moniker of "songwriter's songwriter" it's Houston favorite, Matt Harlan. A troubadour of the first degree, Matt has been bringing his songs of bus-stops, coffee-shops and lives overlooked to stages across his home-state of Texas, the USA and Europe.

Born and raised in Texas, Harlan soaked up the richness of the state and its song-smiths while bouncing between its big cities and small towns. With two studio albums to his name, Harlan exposes a range of influences, to interpret a generation steeped in plastic yet filtered through the Hill Country limestone. His expressive vocals recall Chris Smither and Chris Knight, shading his poignant songs with soaring heart and aching grit.

Matt has just released his second album, "Bow and Be Simple," which was recorded in Denmark with backing band The Sentimentals. The collection features tunes in a variety of moods, unified by a cozy, almost vintage vibe and is being well received by national and international Americana radio, earning a #1 debut on the Euro Americana Charts.

Harlan is a winner of multiple songwriting accolades, from outfits like American Songwriter and Billboard. Most recently he won the 2011 Troubadour contest at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and was featured alongside a stellar cast of characters (Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark) in the documentary, "For the Sake of the Song."

You can find Matt out on the road this year in the US and abroad!

About Brian Hudson:
Originally from Austin, TX , Brian Hudson grew up enjoying the local flavors of music the city offered. Around 2001, he became a part of that sound when his band, The Hudsons, started gigging around town.

In 2009, after The Hudsons disbanded, Brian began performing under his own name. By 2010, he was once again a blue-collar working performer, playing 2-3 nights/week at venues around Texas and holding down a Sunday residency in Austin at Romeo's.

Brian has shared stages with some excellent Texas-based performers and songwriters, including Adam Carroll, Owen Temple, Marshall Hood, Brian Keane, Dana Cooper, and Butch Morgan. He's also been a featured guest at some of Texas's most revered temples of folk music, including Houston's Anderson Fair (headlining), Galveston's Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe (headlining), Gruene Hall (song-swapping), the Rice Festival (mainstage), Tomball's Main Street Crossing (headlining), and KPFT (live set).

In October of 2010, he released his first solo album, Into the Black. It was an eight-song album that he recorded alone in his friend's garage. That album earned high praise from the Duluth News Tribune's John Ziegler who named it Best Concept Album of 2010 and lavished, "Hudson is a master songwriter."

In the Summer of 2011, Brian went on a six-week, thirty-date tour around the middle of the country with Houston's award-winning songsmith Matt Harlan. Matt and Brian are currently making plans to hit the road again in the Summer of 2013.

Brian comes to the Rear Window Listening Room with a NEW CD Released in February of 2013!

About Bob:
This will be Bob's second time around at the Rear Window, and we are looking forward to seeing him again. Bob has been writing and performing music for many years, and that experience is what makes him such a treasure.

Bob is the 2011 Texas Music Awards "Singer/Songwriter Of The Year", an Emmy winning songwriter, Kerrrville and Napa Valley Festival winner with eight commercial CD's, two of which were Euro top 10 and the most recent, 2010 release "Tall Texas Tales", was US Americana #28. Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings have recorded his songs. When he died, Elvis had a song of Bob's on his "to do" list. Having written over 3,000 songs with some of them on TV and in movies, Bob has toured Europe relentlessly the past 10 years doing 40-60 concerts per tour and has been a music biz professional since the late 60's during his top-40-charting pop career in LA, being the voice on the TV theme "Love American Style" and having played gigs in just about every state in the US. In addition to his 1999 "Gettysburg To Graceland" CD being Americana top 20, one of the results of that record was the opening spot on what was to be Johnny Cash's final tour. Bob grew up in Memphis and got a soul full of music not only from the icons of his youth such as Elvis and Johnny Cash but also from his mother who was a radio star in the 20's-30's during the big band era. From an early age, his feet were firmly planted in Mississippi Delta Mud, and his songs began to feature characters whose lives reflected the life style along the rivers of the south over the past 100 years. Having spent 16 years as a journeyman writer in Nashville's music scene, he now lives in Austin fine-tuning his musical voice spinning rootsy, blues-flavored tales of life in a conversational language of the heart.
