Described as one of the top 4 bands to watch by CBS Radio, The War and Treaty is a Maryland-based husband and wife duo who are blazing an innovative trail with their songs of love, loss, grief, heartache, and redemption. Michael Trotter Jr., and Tanya Blount blend americana, folk, gospel, and soul into a sound that reaches back through their deep-rooted history. The name, "The War & Treaty," represents the pull between trauma and tranquility, music inspired by darkness and despair that ultimately finds a higher spiritual purpose.

Following in the footsteps of married duos like Johnny and June Carter Cash and Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, the Trotters are deeply in love. And it shows in their on-stage chemistry as well as in the emotional depth and strength of their songwriting and performances. Both artists are phenomenal singers, with Michaels powerful tenor-to-falsetto range and Tanyas gorgeous soprano. The group takes inspiration from artists like Nina Simone, Earth Wind & Fire, and the Punch Brothers to produce music that is truly distinct.
