7B Theatrical Productions presents "The Odd Couple" by Neil Simon
This classic of American theatre opens with a group of guys sitting around a table in the smokey apartment of Oscar Madison, a divorced sportswriter. From the looks of his apartment, he is a complete slob without a care in the world. Late to this guys night is Felix Unger who thinks nothing but suicide when his wife throws him out wanting a divorce. The only way Oscar can keep his ultra clean freak, neurotic friend Felix sane is to have him move into the apartment. With these two complete opposite roommates, humorous tension brings out the best in both of them.
Neil Simon won the Tony Award in 1965 for Best Author of a Play and a nominee for Best Play. The original cast included the late actor Walter Matthau as Oscar. He won a Tony for Best Actor and made the character famous opposite Jack Lemmon as Felix in the 1968 film. Neil Simon also wrote the film version and was nominated for an Academy Award.
This is the second Neil Simon play Robert Moore has directed. In 2004 he directed "The Star-Spangled Girl" which played at the Panida Theatre and the Bing Crosby Theatre, then the Met. Other plays include "Bus Stop", "Sparks In The Park", and "It's A Wonderful Life, a radio play".
