Chinese Culture Showcase
The Upper Dublin Foundation's Art & Lecture Series Presents a Chinese Cultural Showcase on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the Upper Dublin High School Performing Arts Center hosted by the Foundation in conjunction with the Upper Dublin Chinese Association. See performances by a Chinese trained acrobat, highly accomplished world renowned musicians performing traditional Chinese instrumental music, songs by professional Peking Opera artists, solos by an internationally acclaimed pianist as well as music and dancing by talented local students.
*Online sales will end at 11:00pm Thursday 2/21, but walk-in General Admission seating will be available Saturday night 2/23 beginning at 6:00pm.
Acrobatics by a professional acrobat Ms. Aiai Jiao: Ms. Aiai is one of the very few Chinese trained acrobats in the States. She will perform fabulous foot juggling and unicycle juggling.
Chinese Traditional Music Ensemble by Baban Chinese Music Society of New York: highly accomplished artists performed in the concert hall around the world on Silk and Bamboo instruments a classical instrumental grouping dating from Qing Dynasty (1636-1911) in China will bring to you beautiful Chinese traditional music.
Peking Opera by professional Peking opera artists Ms. Nuo Dai, Mr. Chunnuan Liu and Mr. Fei Wang, who performed in a national level Peking opera institution in China. They will perform two very famous Peking Opera pieces, "At the Crossroad" and "Monkey King Uproar in Heaven".
Piano Solo by pianist Dr. Cong Fan: A first prize winner at the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition and the Pacific International Piano Competition. She will bring a Chinese popular folk song to life on a western piano.
Together with the professional artists, our talented local students will refresh you with dance, song and classical music.
