Economies of Touch
Chicago Arts District Special Exhibitions Gallery Chicago, IL
Economies of Touch is a site specific performance installation combining the performance of massage and video via surveillance cameras attached to the massage therapist's body. Drawing attention not only to the spiritual and meditative qualities of giving massage, but also to the formal beauty seen as one views the techniques of touching another persons skin, hair, limbs, body with the intention to heal Economies of Touch asks participants to relax and viewers to meditate on their own complicity in a complex global economy that blurs the line between touch for sale and touch for healing.
Exhibition is free and open to the public. For those wishing to participate in the installation, massages may be purchased here.
Note: Ample street parking available.
