ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) of Greater Cleveland (http://www.icanofgreatercleveland.org) and the Doula Network of Northeast Ohio (http://doulaneo.com/) are collaborating to present BIRTH: Engage the Wisdom. Learn the reality of the U.S. technological birthing system. Discover how to make positive changes, now and for the future. Be inspired to return birthing wisdom to women and babies.
Join us Sunday, May 18th, 11 AM - 7 PM for an educational symposium addressing concerns over the U.S. maternity care system and author book sales and signings, featuring:
o Jennifer Block (http://www.jenniferblock.com/), journalist and author of Pushed: The Painful Truth about Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care
o Barbara Katz Rothman, Professor of Sociology at CUNY (City University of New York) and author of several books, including Laboring On: Birth in Transition in the United States (Perspectives on Gender, Recreating Motherhood , and Encyclopedia of Childbearing: Critical Perspectives.
o Nasima Pfaffl, Vice President, Citizens for Midwifery (http://cfmidwifery.org/)
