Description
Virago Theatre Company presents staged readings of new works by Bay Area playwrights read by accomplished actors on four consecutive Monday evenings in July and August.  Come hear some exciting unpublished and unproduced plays by local artists, and give us your feedback.  We will choose a piece or two for full production in a future season based on audience feedback from these readings.

Our 2006 Play Reading Series gave us "The Death of Ayn Rand" and "A Bed of My Own" (performed in the summer of 2007), and "The Hermit Bird" (slated for full production in spring 2009).

Be one of the first to see and hear fresh new works in their earliest stages.  Help Virago Theatre Company support local artists by attending one or more of these events.

Monday, July 14 at 7pm - "Death in Van Nuys" by Dan Pine at Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden (1223 Park Street, Alameda)  www.juliestea.com

Monday, July 21 at 7pm - "Afterlife of the Mind" by William Bivins at MONART Drawing Studio (1918 Encinal Avenue, Alameda) www.monarteastbay.com.

Monday, July 28 at 7pm - "Shoot O'Malley Twice" by Jon Brooks at Crosstown Community Center (1303 High St, Alameda) www.crosstowncoffee.org)

Monday, August 4 at 7pm - "The Edge" and "The Scratch" by Morgan Ludlow, and "An Hour in Time" by VB Leghorn at Frank Bette Center for the Arts (1601 Paru St, Alameda) www.frankbettecenter.org

NOTE: No-one under 10 years old will be admitted.

Notes
The first three evenings feature one full-length play, the final evening features three shorter pieces.  Each evening will have one intermission, and time after the reading to mingle and share feedback about the works.
