The Black Brothers Band
Kick off your St. Patrick's Week festivities with a special afternoon concert at which there'll be a Blackout with no lack of energy by an ensemble who cannot be eclipsed, the Black Brothers Band, led by the charismatic charmers from Dublin, Shay and Michael Black, the singing siblings from Ireland's first family of song, the Black Family, which includes their sisters Mary and Frances and brother Martin. Hailed in the Irish Echo as 'one of the most impressive groups of Irish singers to be found anywhere... exquisite, exhilarating and nothing short of thrilling,' raising sibling rivalry to revelry, Shay and Michael adroitly accompany their sheer joy of singing with banjo, cittern and guitar with the Black and Black Minstrel Show also featuring fiddle virtuoso Bobbi Nickles, celestial cellist Myra Joy and captivating keyboardist Bryan Seet. The concert includes Irish traditional ballads, Dublin street songs, music hall ditties, contemporary compositions, rollicking reels and jaunty jigs, all interspersed with comic stories, jokes and humorous childhood anecdotes that invariably have audiences smiling broadly and joining in on the choruses.
