| Description |
The first Tasting Music Event of the 2008 Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival pairs the powerful 8th String Quartet of Dimitri Shostakovich with wines from acclaimed Waters Winery. Shostakovich's 8th String Quartet is one of the best examples of music with both concrete and subjective meanings. The music tells the moving autobiographical story of Dimitri Shostakovich, and of life in Soviet Era Russia. At its center lies the very notion of beauty, and the role of the artist as an agent for social change. WWCMF Founder and Artistic Director Timothy Christie will lead a discussion and performance of Shostakovich's masterpiece while guests are invited to sample wines from Waters' collection of Estate Syrahs and Bordeaux-style blends.

| The performance will run about an hour, with time before and after to talk with musicians and winemakers, and to taste and buy wine. Minors are welcome to attend the performance, but must be accompanied by an adult. ID required for tasting and purchase of wine. |
