The 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee stars the journey of six quirky adolescents to win regional 1st place in order to proceed to Nationals. As they compete, with the help from a former-Nationals-Champion hostess, a suspiciously grumpy school vice president, and a comfort counselor on parole, the young spellers begin to discover themselves in the atmosphere of tension, young love, and hilarity.
