DC Gurly Burlesque Workshop
We are known for helping people, mostly but not exclusively women, realize their dreams of performing for a respectful crowd, regardless of their body type. We're also known for helping Burlesque Superstars get their start! I've been a proud member since August 2005 and a proud producer since February 2011!
To help you get started, we offer a 2-hour workshop for $35, where you'll learn basic boa and basic glove peels (which you already know), a dance, and you'll be given a booking to come perform at our show! The next workshop is January 26 from 430-630, and takes place at the same space as the new member meeting! You walk away with a boa, a pair of gloves, and your first pair of pasties! We'll have the Brown Paper Tickets link up shortly so you can pay online. Only the first 40 people who sign up will be able to take the workshop!
Your performance outfit will likely consist of: a white short sleeve button up, black bottoms*, black heels with an ankle strap or more than 50% of your foot secured by the shoe, black fishnets and a black bra. Should you choose to perform, you can be prepared! The performance will be on the Phase 1 Capitol Hill stage, which carries a 100% ID check policy and only admits persons 21+.
