We welcome you to join in the celebration of human resilience with spoken word artist Mr. Foster in his monologue performance titled Beautiful Struggle!
Mr. Foster is a Los Angeles native who still resides in the community that first inspired him; a community that fostered him as one of the leading spoken word artists that emerged from the 1990's Leimert Park artist cultural movement. A spokesman for his community, Mr. Foster's poetry divulge in detail the beauty, love, dismay, triumph, and struggle of the minority members of our society.
In this one-man show, Mr. Foster uses spoken word poetry to passionately reflect on the range of challenges he has personally experienced and overcame. In the theme of endurance, Mr. Foster also relates the struggles of others who face the fire of adversity to be refined as gold to further attest to the strength and humility gained by overcoming life's many challenges.
In Mr. Foster's firsthand insight and exposition of love, loss, gain, courage, confusion, clarity and pain, the audience will experience a range of emotion as Mr. Foster takes them on a journey through his childhood, family life, gang affiliation, love experiences, outlook on our society today, and his love affair with poetry. Mr. Foster hopes that you will join him in sharing this experience and becoming a part of his beautiful struggle!
