Outside Sound Philadelphia
Outside Sound is a mixed-media project that takes artwork created by adults with developmental disabilities and sets it to original music. Composer and project director Chris Coyle has conducted music intensive workshops at three participating art programs that serve the disabled population - Center for Creative Works (Lower Merion/Wynnewood PA), Oasis Art Center (Philadelphia), and Outside the Lines (Medford, MA). Artwork and activities at the programs were documented and then music was written in response.
At this event, selected artwork will be presented alongside these original music pieces performed by wonderful local musicians. The process of the project as well as the mission of the art programs will be discussed. Attendees will have a chance to meet some of the program artists and staff and to view or purchase artwork. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the art programs so you'll be supporting a great cause if you can attend! Refreshments will be served.
All advanced tickets will get you on the "will call" list. Just show up to the event, check in, and you are set.
The Rotunda is located in West Philadelphia near Penn's campus. Street parking is available - make sure you pay the parking meter as parking tickets are given out frequently.
