Dance For A Cause
Each year the SCDPAC Company does an in-studio performance of all our routines to prepare for Competition Season. This is a chance for the parents to see what they have been working on for the last 4-6 months and see what is in store for the future competition season. In doing so, we have started to make the performance a fundraiser for a charity or foundation that has impacted the lives of those around us. This year's show will benefit the Beckstrand Foundation.
About Beckstrand:
Dr. Grant Beckstrand, a pioneering Long Beach oncologist, brought the most advanced understanding and skill in cancer treatment to our area. Recognizing the significance and importance of his patients' non-medical needs, he searched in particular for a solution to the financial burden of cancer and its treatment. Many patients and family members, moved by his sense of responsibility to those battling cancer, expressed their appreciation for his work by contributing money to his special account to help those in need.
In 1974, Beckstrand Cancer Foundation was formed by incorporation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation took his name in honor of Dr. Beckstrand's distinguished service to thousands of cancer patients in the southwestern United States.
