LABAYEN DANCE/SF CELEBRATES 18 YEARS with bold, earthy, gutsy, powerful and inspirational works.

18th Anniversary highlights include the US premiere of Enrico Labayen's "Rites of Spring" celebrating the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's groundbreaking modernist work composed in 1913  & "Tears", collaboration with Bay Area composer/musician Gabriel Goldberg plus new works from exciting choreographers Viktor Kabaniaev, Laura Bernasconi, Daiane Lopes da Silva, Victor Talledos, Malu Rivera-Peoples with special participation of French dance artist Sandrine Cassini, formerly of Bejart Ballet Lausanne and Paris Opera Ballet at Dance Mission Theatre, March 15 & 16 at 8:00pm & 17th at 7:30pm

WHO:Labayen Dance/SF's' 18th year with  the US premiere of multi-award winning choreographer Enrico Labayen's  "Rites of Spring" celebrating the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's groundbreaking modernist work composed in 1913 & "Tears", collaboration with Bay Area composer/musician Gabriel Goldberg plus new works from exciting choreographers Viktor Kabaniaev, Laura Bernasconi, Daiane Lopes da Silva, Victor Talledos, Malu Rivera-Peoples with special participation of French dance artist Sandrine Cassini, formerly of Bejart Ballet Lausanne and Paris Opera Ballet

WHAT:  US premiere of Enrico Labayen's critically acclaimed "Rites of Spring", originally set on Manila-based Labayen Dance/Asia and celebrates the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's groundbreaking modernist work composed in 1913. The work explores a young man's coming of age, sexual awakening & initiation into the world of maturity & will feature French dance artist Sandrine Cassini, formerly of Bejart Ballet Lausanne and Paris Opera Ballet. Labayen's "Awit ng Pag-Ibig" (Tagalog meaning songs of love), is a very personal work, it is a commentary on domestic violence and its innocent victims, the children. &  "Tears" a work about love, joy, the process of death and dying, loss and poses the question "Why do we shed tears?" in collaboration with Bay Area composer/musician Gabriel Goldberg. Choreographers Daiane Lopes da Silva's "Chrysalis", Victor Talledos' "Desolation", Viktor Kabanaiev's "Broken Strings" (performed Friday & Sunday only), a contemporary duets about youthful experiences, Laura Bernasconi's "Nourishment" & Malu Rivera-Peoples' "Organic" (performed Friday & Sunday only).
