Birds of Chicago is a collective built around husband and wife duo J.T. Nero (Chicago, IL) and Allison Russell (Montreal, QC). Their rock and roll poetry, a capella spirituals, acoustic balladry and driving country rock is built on Nero's fractured country soul croon and guitar wrapped in Russell's silver and gold voice and clarinet for a harmony blend that is like nothing else. Their streamlined poetry, deep grooves, sharp hooks and joyful singing come straight from their gut, and aim right at yours.

Music this raw and soul-rich demands to be experienced live, and Birds of Chicago have developed a fervent following, touring 200 nights a year since their formation in late 2012.  For these Birds, singing for a room full of new people, hearts wide open, keeps off the cold and chases off the shadows.

The Bird's most recent EP 'American Flowers,' (2017) is their debut release with Signature Sounds. Partial proceeds from American Flowers will benefit Chicago's South Side based Teen Living Programs, a non-profit that builds community, hope and opportunity for youth who are homeless and at risk. They will also be releasing 'Love in Wartime,' a full length album in April of 2018.
