Join us for Vangeline's first Philadelphia workshop!
Vangeline's workshops provide an opportunity to explore and move deeply into a process which Butoh dance cultivates, of seeking the emergence of the deeper self, awakening lost parts of the human being, exploring all human qualities to transform our dance, our daily life and offer creative energy to the community.
This Butoh workshop creates a supportive environment to start an individual and collective process of investigation through creative movement. Participants start a spiritual and energetic journey to express, heal and transform hidden aspects of themselves. The work incorporates Japanese Butoh techniques, guided imagery, bio-energetics, core energetics, creative movement, improvisation, release techniques, elements of Noguchi gymnastics. Beginners are welcome.
Vangeline passionately believes in guiding the actor, dancer, singer, adult beginner through a unique learning experience so that they may recover their personal energy through the study of Butoh.
About Vangeline
Vangeline is a dancer, teacher and choreographer from France. She is a Butoh artist and the Artistic Director of the Vangeline Theater in NYC. Vangeline studied extensively with Diego Piñón from the Butoh Ritual Mexicano. With Diego, she studied Bioenergetics, Core Energetics, and Gestalt; as well as theater techniques (Ritual Theater), and release techniques. Among Vangeline's other teachers are the renowned Butoh masters, Yoshito Ohno, Akira Kasai, Yumiko Yushioka, Ko Murobushi, Daisuke Yoshimoto, Tetsuro Fukuhara, and Katsura Kan.
