Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival: Festival Series IV
Festival Series IV will bring the inaugural Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival to a close in grand fashion. All nine Festival musicians will collaborate on this program featuring Mozart's String Quartet in G Major K. 387, the Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano, and Schumann's heroic Piano Quintet in E Flat Op. 44. Schumann's work plumbs the depths of sorrow in a gripping Funeral March and soars to greater heights in the closing triumphant Finale. Mozart's quartet is marked by the final movement fugue, reminiscent of both the Jupiter Symphony and the Magic Flute: joy and laughter as only Mozart could pen. The Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano balances the impressionistic shadings for which he is known with lyricism and almost jazz-like energy. Do not miss this final event of the 2008 season in what is sure to become an annual highlight of the Pacific Northwest's arts calendar.
