Sista Monica's "Acoustic Honey"
Sista Monica performs 20th year anniversary at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, CA 320 Cedar St. Sat., Feb 9, 2013. Two shows: 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
nominated for 2013 "Best Soul Blues Female Artist in the United States by the national Blues Foundation is a alto/contralto singer/songwriter. She performs a rare unplugged concert of "Acoustic Honey." This evening she sings originals from several of her 11 CDs. She croons, moans, belts and sings so audiences will experience the intensity of her lyrics, the pulse of her melodies and her unique vocal expression.
Joining her in this special concert is a four piece band of recording musicians featuring her 19 year veteran piano player and co-writer - Danny "B" Beconcini. He will stretch out on a grand piano. Ruth Davies - from Elvinv Bishop Band will be on acoustic standup bass, Leon Joyce Jr. on drums previously from Ramsey Lewis Trio, and Danny Sandoval on tenor saxophone.
Also members of her gospel and inspirational choir will perform uplisting music.
