Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Music & Presidents"
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett, presents "Music & Presidents" on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 3:00pm in the Bemidji High School Auditorium.
In celebration of President's Day, humanities scholar Clay S. Jenkinson returns to the stage in the personas of Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt!
Included on the program are Corelli's Concerto Grosso No. 6 in F major, the "Brandenburg Concerto No. 3" by J.S. Bach, and Handel's "Royal Fireworks Music," all from the era of President Jefferson.
The second half of the concert features music of the era of President Roosevelt and includes popular pieces by Scott Joplin and Stephen Foster as well as "An American Frontier" by Calvin Custer, "America the Beautiful," and Bill Holcombe's "Cowboy Fantasy."
Clay Jenkinson is a humanities scholar, author, social commentator, a Jefferson scholar, a Lewis and Clark scholar, and a student of the future of rural America. He has earned the reputation as one of the most entertaining public speakers in the United States. His unique style of living history performance is both humorous and enlightening.
As a special treat, the audience is invited to a "press conference" immediately following the concert, during which Mr. Jefferson AND Mr. Roosevelt, along with Dr. Everett, will share insights on music and history, and take audience questions.
For those who hold BSO Season Tickets, the Holiday Concert is included as part of the season. All seats are general admission.
