Although it has similarities to others it's also very original and extremely fun allowing fellow improvisers to compete and collaborate. It combines structure with open free falling and will be very flexible and engaging.

You can enter by yourself, or as a team of 2-4 people (no more please, you'll see why...) If you enter by yourself, you will be put on a 2-4 person team of other random individuals. You have a chance to play multiple weeks in a row. Any night could have 2 or 3 teams. Each round is 20 min total. A normal triathlon contains 3 parts. Swimming, biking, and running.......
The Improv Triathlon 1. Swimming (20-25 min - 2 teams x 10-12 min or 3x7-8 min) Swimming restricts the body physically. Round 1 would be the RESTRICTIVE challenge. Any improv scenes done in round 1 are incorporating some kind of restriction. (It's one longer scene per team, not a bunch of little ones, so feel free to prepare and train for it!).
2. Bicycling (20-25 min - 2 teams x10-12 min or 3x7-8 min) A prop is required in the 2nd round the way bikes are in a triathlon and must be supplied by a non-performer. (Can be one long scene per team or series of scenes)
3. Running (20-25 min - all play) Running requires physical endurance and mental stamina. The final round is longform with no hoops or props involving every performer in the show collaborating.
The Slipstream Award In a normal triathlon drafting happens when someone in the front stops the wind or water resistance for the ones behind making it easy to conserve energy.
The "Slipstream" award will be presented to that aerodynamic player who stands out as the best supporter of the other players and the scene. It will be awarded by the MC or players.
In the end, the audience votes using colored cards corresponding to the team of their choice. Team are marked with ribbons with corosponding colors throughout the show.
The winner gets a chance to come back the following week but isn't required too. It's not a tournament, just an ongoing show through June.
In this unique show, the sparks will fly, and so will the laughs. And, you will be there deciding the night's events and stories. Black Box Theatre, Edmonds Community College, Lynnwood.Black Box Theatre, Edmonds Community College, Lynnwood
