Someday
Bootleg Theater Los Angeles, CA
Written by Julie Marie Myatt Directed by Michael John Garcs Scenic Design by Lynn Jeffries, Costume Design by Meghan E. Healey, Sound Design by John Nobori, Lighting Design by Dan Jenkins
A disabled woman fights to adopt an abandoned baby, while a middle-class couple struggles to conceive. As they wade through the clashing advice of friends, strangers, social workers, and fertility doctors, they discover that having a baby in Los Angeles can be a daunting task. Will they get the families they dream of,and at what cost?
Drawing on testimonies from disabled women, teen and surrogate mothers, sperm and egg donors, and non-traditional families, Someday breaks the cycle of polarized abortion debates and asks: who can afford to have or not have children, and who can't?
Created in collaboration with: Feminist Majority Foundation, National Organization for Women (Hollywood Chapter), South Asian Network, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and Womens Reproductive Rights Assistance Project.
