An Appalachian Christmas
Set in the Appalachian Mountains in 1938, the play concerns a young boy, living with his two spinster aunts who learns the meaning of Christmas. Through some very difficult lessons he learns about the gift of giving and gratefulness in hard times. This warm holiday play, written and directed by Diablo Actors Ensemble's Artistic Director, Scott Fryer, promises to be an enjoyable evening of theatre for the entire family. "I wanted to write a holiday play that was truly accessible to the whole family and could be enjoyed by all ages."
Diablo Actors Ensemble began producing plays 40 years ago in the Parkside Playhouse in Concord. They then moved to the more spacious Willow Theatre. They have also produced plays at The Maggie Crum theatre in Walnut Creek as well as the Stage 3 before getting a more permanent space on Locust Street. They have produced shows at the African American Shakespeare Company and have done a co-production with Marin Theatre Company.
An Appalachian Christmas will be produced at B8 Theatre at 2292 Concord Blvd. in Concord.
