In The Mood is America's premiere 1940s Big Band, Song and Swing Dance Revue that celebrates the Greatest Generation through the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, and stars of the swing era with music arrangements, costumes and choreography that are as authentic as it gets!

It's the music that moved a nation's spirit and helped win a war: a sentimental, romantic, nostalgic, jazzy and patriotic tribute to America's Swing Era.  Company of 19 on stage: The Spectacular String of Pearls Big Band and six vocalist-dancers including some high flying swing dance couple.

IN THE MOOD takes a look at the life and time of America's greatest generation when everyone listened and danced to the same style of music: from up-tempo big band rhythms to mellow intimate ballads. It was the SWING ERA. On radio, in theaters and ballrooms the Big Bands were drawing record crowds. This music inspired America with a vision for the future filled with hope, promise and prosperity.  ...This body of song did much to sustain national morale during World War II, the pivotal event of the 40's.

The National Archives in Washington, DC brought IN THE MOOD to their audiences as part of their commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of WWII and the response was extraordinary with crowds lining up for hours before curtain time. The engagement was twice extended to extra performances.

In 1993, the Archives presented a repeat performance out-of-doors on Constitution Avenue. Thousands attended, and many stayed to dance the night away. As a result, IN THE MOOD, in affiliation with the USO, began a series of tours which played to audiences across the United States during the 50th Commemoration of WWII. The show's association with the National Archives and the USO was altogether appropriate, for much of the underpinning research was drawn from resources of these national organizations.

IN THE MOOD has been touring annually since 1992. in 2011, the company toured Australia and New Zealand to full houses and standing ovations. In The Mood visited Europe in 1997. The band and singers were selected to be part of the entertainment for the 53rd Presidential Inauguration Ball.

IN THE MOOD is constantly being revamped and updated. While there are a number of permanent Swing-Era songs in the show, many are rotated out and replaced with selections from the huge body of Swing-Era music. Bud Forrest greets the audience after every performance and is constantly taking suggestions from patrons of songs they'd like to hear in the show. Likewise, Mr. Forrest recently engaged stage director and noted Broadway choreographer Alex Sanchez to re-choreograph the show's jitterbug dances and production numbers. Thus, IN THE MOOD maintains a fresh, dynamic, ever-changing perspective on the culture of the Swing Era. Patrons who have seen the show two or three times are never disappointed as the production constantly evolves.

IN THE MOOD was conceived and created by Washington, DC's musical producer Bud Forrest.

Limited Wheelchair seating is available. Call David at 425 444 5052 to reserve wheelchair place.

The show runs two hours, twenty minutes with a 15-minute intermission. CD's of the music of the 1940s will be on sale in the lobby
