Happy and Joyful New Year to all and to all it will be a good night!

Vude's next event will be coming up on Friday, January 18th featuring Chef John Howie! This will be a classic match made in heaven. We have teamed up Chef John Howie and Jon Staenberg's very own Hand of God Wines.

Chef John Howie began his culinary career at age 15, training in many of Seattle's finest restaurants. As the chef at Palisade restaurant, he helped the restaurant gain status as Seattle's premier special occasion dining spot. Chef Howie decided to open his own restaurants, Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar, Bellevue and Seattle and Sport Restaurant and Bar. Rave reviews soon followed, with awards from Food & Wine magazine, Zagat, Wine Spectator and the list goes on...

Seafood is nice, but steak is great! John Howie Steak restaurant has put the Northwest on the map for being known for its five tiers of steaks! No one else north of San Francisco and west of Las Vegas can make such a claim.

Tonight Chef Howie will bring you a delicious, mouthwatering mesquite grilled Filet Mignon with a five cheese stuffed potato to pair with one of the finest Old Vine Malbecs in the world.  As you know with the VUDE, there is always a surprise.  One great surprise will be an Argentinian inspired new creation, by Chef Howie, to perfectly match the Hand of God Fingerprint Series Malbec.  Another super surprise is Chef Howie's private label 'Duval Leroy Champagne' paired with.well, that is just a teaser of the 6-courses (plus appetizers) that will be served at this special gathering.

This will be the first event to ever fully feature the Hand of God wines. These wines are not even for sale yet in this country and yet we have a few precious bottles just for you! The wine maker,  Santiago Ach├íval is the co-founder & winemaker for Hand of God Wines. Santiago fell in love with wines and winemaking during frequent visits to Napa Valley while receiving his MBA from Stanford. Achaval-Ferrer, his winery in Mendoza, boasts four of the five highest rated wines from Argentina (two 99's and three 98's), as awarded by Wine Spectator, and the highest rated Argentine wine to date by Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate.

Jon Staenberg, a native cornhusker (Nebraskan), is the founder of Hand of God Wines. Twenty-six years ago, Jon visited the Napa Valley and like Santiago, he became smitten with wine. This passion extended to Malbec and Argentine culture during a trip to South America in 2005. Jon and Santiago, alums of Stanford Business School, discovered a bond through wine, and a partnership was born. Jon's life revolves around his daughter, food, wine and the endless inspiration from each that he zealously loves to share with friends.

So, we hope you will join us for this special night of food, art, and conversation. At the VUDE there always seem to be some additional surprises, so don't miss out on this exciting once-only meal extravaganza.  

Oh, and we have once again partnered with our friends at Caffe Ladro Roasting to provide a one of a kind gourmet coffee specially made for this event. Chemex brewers will showcase this coffee's smooth clean cocoa flavors - great finishing touch to what promises to be a spectacular evening. Caffe Ladro loves to give parting gifts, too.

The suggested price for this 6-course, drinks-paired meal is $150 (which is inclusive of tips and taxes and anything else you may want to throw at these talented artisans!). This is most definitely a first-come, first-served deal and will not be duplicated again. If you would like to bring friends to this event, have them become a member through the vude.com website before buying tickets.
