LGBT Sanctuary Project Fundraiser with Melanie DeMore and Friends

Melanie DeMore is an accomplished folk singer, songwriter, composer, choral conductor and teacher.  She was a founding member of the Grammy nominated vocal ensemble Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir.  She has shared the stage with some of the world's most notable musicians and political activists from Gloria Steinem, Odetta, Pete Seeger, and Judy Collins to Ed Asner, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, and Ani Di Franco. She has been credited with launching and inspiring the careers of many of her students over the years, including Skyblaze/Sony recording artist Goapele.

MADELINA Y LOS CARPINTEROS with special guest, Judy Graboyes.

Madelina y Los Carpinteros is a multicultural Latin American ensemble following the tradition of the Nueva Canción and Nueva Trova  movements that came out of The Americas liberation struggles to freshly embody the folk roots with an enriched lyricism  The group sings original compositions as well as unique interpretations of music from South American and the Andes, from Cuba and Puerto Rico to Mexico and the US. The group features the vocal interpretations of Madelina Zayas (Puerto Rico) and the richly layered and deeply rooted acoustic performance by Fernando Feña Torres (Chile), Denis Schmidt (France) and Craig Thomas (US).

Judy Graboyes plays bass, drums, and latin percussion. She plays with the Left Coast Sextet, Ruby's in Town, and Adelante Mujeres. Her bands have opened for Peter Tosh, Pete and Sheila Escovedo, Tower of Power, and Tuck and Patti. The Indigo Girls opened for her band, the Blazing Redheads, in 1988 in Atlanta Georgia.
