Musique Noire CD Release Party
Join the award-winning ensemble Musique Noire (www.musiquenoire.com) as they return to the Music Hall's beautiful Jazz CafĂ© for a performance of their signature blend of jazz and world music in celebration of the release of their third CD: "Reflections:  We Breathe".  Musique Noire is a woman-led strings and percussion ensemble, nominated for multiple Detroit Music Awards for Outstanding World Group and the 2015 winners of the Best Black Female Jazz Group through the "Black Women in Jazz Awards". Members, who reside in Detroit and Chicago, are veteran professionals who perform extensively nationally and internationally.  Led by violinist/flutist Michelle May, the core ensemble includes Leslie Deshazor Adams on viola, Leah Lucas Celebi on violin and viola, and JoVia Armstrong on percussion.  Joining the ladies of Musique Noire will be Elden Kelly on guitar and Pathe Jassi on bass.  Their live shows have won them fans in the Detroit area, across Michigan and in Chicago, where they opened the inaugural Chicago Jazz String Summit.  Their previous music projects (two CD releases) have sold across the U.S. and around the world and gained airplay on over 60 U.S. stations. "Musique Noire fuses world music and jazz, resulting in a style that is at once classical and cutting edge.  The unconventional combination of violin, viola and percussion lends an exotic air to the groups arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions." ~ J.Nadir Omowale

JUST ADDED!!!!
We are VERY pleased to announce the addition of Ms. Paris Mason, who will open our show! Paris is an incredible vocalist with deep Detroit roots. She trained with the Mosaic Youth Theatre and after graduating from Stevenson High School attended Wayne State University. Paris has performed at the Fox Theatre, Detroit Film Theatre and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, among others. Her signature sound is soulful (think Jazmine Sullivan), with deep and meaningful lyrics--a wonderful compliment to our style! Photo: LeBrun S. Jackson
