NAACP SCB with Front and Centered: ECJ Listening Session
The NAACP Snohomish County Branch in cooperation with Front and Centered, are hosting an environmental and renewable energy focused listening session at Everett Community College.
There will be food provided and space is limited to 20.
The following are the topics we will be discussing at the listening session:
1. Developing and Environmental Justice map for Washington State: Intended as a resource to direct resources, shape
policy, and monitor progress, we need our communities to identify issues which should be measured into a multiple measure
cumulative impacts map of environmental justice.
2. Identifying Disproportionate Climate Impacts: Beyond the map, we are partnering with the University of Washington on a
survey report of how climate change will impact our communities Washington State, and we need community to point to those
issues.
3. Identifying Interest in Puget Sound Watershed: We need to communities to identify how the are impacted by the health of
Puget Sound and its watershed and what type of solutions could reduce disparities and create net benefits to communities of
color.
4. Equitable Clean Energy and Solar Deployment: We need communities to share their goals and ideas on how can we
transition to cleaner energy in a way that creates environmental, social and economic benefits (e.g. job creation,
reduced energy costs, wealth-building for low-income communities, reduced emissions and climate resilience) to
proactively reduce disparities
