WYSO Percussion Extravaganza
Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras (WYSO) will present the 12th annual Percussion Extravaganza on Saturday, March 2 at 1:30pm in UW-Madison's Mills Concert Hall. This year's Extravaganza will feature guest artist Jeff Queen, one of the world's finest snare drummers, who has performed in the Broadway show Blast, on the Late Show with David Letterman, and at the NBA All-Star Game. Mr. Queen will perform "Cuban Concerto" with WYSO's Percussion Ensemble at the concert.
This year's Extravaganza will feature engaging, diverse repertoire by composers including Dvorak, Bela Fleck, the Bee Gees and recently departed jazz legend Dave Brubeck.
The Extravaganza, entitled "Heart Beats," will also celebrate the life-saving skills of the American Red Cross. WYSO musicians will receive CPR training from Red Cross staff during their rehearsal period, and 20% of Extravaganza ticket sales will be donated to the local chapter of this important community organization.
Admission will be $10 adults and $5 students. The concert will be held in Mills Concert Hall, 455 N. Park St., Madison.
