Event
The 10th Annual Western Regional International Health Conference
Venue: Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Hosted by the OHSU Global Health Center Student Interest Group. Dates: April 5 (Friday afternoon) to April 7, 2013 (Sunday at noon)
Human health and well-being are constantly impacted by changing environments, whether the consequences of earthquake, war, social conflict, famine, displacement, governmental change, evolving public policy, transformative legal treaties, climate change, industrialization and resource extraction, environmental degradation, vaccine development, drug accessibility, water crisis, population expansion, rural to urban migration, emerging infectious diseases, growing burden of chronic disorders and disabilities, gender violence and trafficking, economic turmoil or pervasive poverty, to name a few.
This exciting, student-led, conference will discuss a wide range of topics in global health; including those that fall under the radar. The conference brings together undergraduate and graduate students studying a wide variety of subjects including science, health professional tracks, engineering and law, among others.
The conference will examine the diverse forces that impact lives worldwide. Students, educators, and community leaders representing a wide breadth of disciplines and expertise will explore interprofessionally the relationships between human health and changing environments. Those outside the health professions are strongly encouraged to participate in this wide-ranging, multidisciplinary conference. Understanding the forces that shape health across the globe requires the synergistic interaction of many diverse minds working towards common goals.
