Choral Arts Society Spring 2008 Concert: Viva Puccini!
On the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Choral Arts Society's Spring Concert will feature a cross-section of the composer's works: his earliest full-scale composition, the "Messa di Gloria"; the opening chorus from his first opera, "Le Villi"; and selected scenes and choruses from his best-known operatic masterpieces including La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Il Trittico, and Turandot. This is a rare opportunity to savor Puccini's glorious choral writing, from the beginning of his career to the end, and to revel in the melodic, passionate arias and ensembles which have kept his music alive and immensely popular for over a hundred years.
