PROGRAM Sergei Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vigil, Op. 37 (1915)
MUSICIANS The FAPC Chamber Choir, directed by Ryan Jackson
WHAT TO EXPECT In their sixth Lenten concert under Ryan Jackson's direction, the FAPC Chamber Choir presents a seldom-heard complete performance of the All-Night Vigil (commonly "Vespers") by Sergei Rachmaninoff. One of the world's most celebrated sacred choral works, Rachmaninoff's masterpiece transports the listener with its distinctive combination of haunting Russian Orthodox chant and smoldering turn-of-the-century romanticism. The FAPC Chamber Choir features several deep basses to perform the famously low bass parts.
Duration ca. 70 minutes (without intermission) Professional choir of twenty-five voices Reception to follow
