Raavan (Staged Reading and dance performance)
Run Time: 60 minutes Ramayana is an Indian epic that tells the story of Ram, a God born as a human to destroy Raavan, the evil demon king of Lanka. Ramayana starts with the birth of Ram and follows his journey into adulthood and then his exile along with his wife Sita and his brother. During Ram's exile, Raavan kidnaps Sita. Ram then forms an army of monkeys to battle Raavan and to free Sita.
This experimental play is a retelling of the same story, but from Raavan's perspective, drawing similarities to Macbeth. It starts with Raavan's childhood and depicts how Raavan, once considered wise and noble, turns into an egotistical and evil king, bringing destruction to his family and people.
Join us for a staged reading of this play, accompanied by dance performances. Written by Swati Goel, directed by Judge Luckey, Artistic Director of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre, Graphics: Camille Schoettler
PLEASE NOTE: We have a small opening night reception on 23rd September after the show at the Theatre. Please plan to stay.
