The Playful Peacock Showgirl Academy & The 2013 Minneapolis Burlesque Festival are proud to present Lady Jack!
Whether you're creating a piece for burlesque, dance or theatre, this class is a fun exercise in exploring individual creativity using music as the driving narrative force. Students will go through a series of theatrical and dance exercises and will learn one set piece of choreography they will adjust to portray three different characters.
Develop techniques for deepening intention, layering on emotion, and ultimately developing a character. For students of various skill levels. Bare feet, dance shoes, or high heels.
About the instructor: Lady Jack is a multifaceted Performance Artist and Burlesque Dancer from Chicago who delights in anything demanding red lipstick and a top hat. She is a presence in the Chicago and national scene as a performer, choreographer, producer and collaborator with others that conspire to create worlds of midnight festival and magic. She has performed in the New York and New Orleans Burlesque Festivals, Best of Midwest Burlesk, Show-Me Burlesque Festival and is a frequent feature act for the Beggar's Carnivale in St. Louis, as well as other shows throughout the country. She is one of the resident Burlesque artists at the 1930's style nightclub Untitled Chicago, and performs regularly for many top Chicago events, shows and nightclubs. She was voted one of the Top 100 Burlesque Artists in 2010 in 21st Century Burlesque, and also appeared on the cover of Timeout Chicago's Sex Issue that year.
Her performance art and dance work has been seen in TEDx Midwest, opening for James Taylor for the event Evermore, with chamber music ensemble 5th House, and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's production of A Solider's Tale with John Lithgow. Lady Jack is also an actor in film, where she frequently appears under her alias of Lindsey Marks. She has appeared in Atmosphere's music video Shoulda Known, the self-written web series Hitwomen and will be appearing as the lead role of Faith in the upcoming feature film Heaven is Hell. Most importantly, she strangled a dominatrix to death in the short film Care Bears: Back in Action.
