AfroSouthern Presents: The Christmas Spirituals Project
An intimate Holiday Concert Featuring Christmas Themed Negro Spirituals, African American Traditionals, & Classic African American Christmas Tales with Tara Lake, Soprano & Storyteller.
Tara Lake, Soprano and Storyteller, will be accompanied on piano by celebrated gospel Pianist Raymond Forte. Included are classic selections in the African American Folk Tradition, including "Go Where I send Thee", "Mary Had a Baby", and "Sweet Little Jesus Boy", most made popular in the late 1800s. The program will include readings from African American holiday stories and poems published before 1950.
It's a Jubilant, Exciting Celebration of Christmas and the rich African American Folk, Concert, and Gospel Traditions!
