Thank you for coming to HERON ensemble's The Earth Shakes, a new play by Samantha Cooper!

Event

The Earth Shakes
HERON presents an ambitious original work by NYC playwright Samantha Cooper, loosely based on Shakespeare's epic Antony and Cleopatra.

Untethered to one time and place, The Earth Shakes examines the cyclical nature of love and war through five different lenses. True to HERON's unique multidisciplinary style, characters will be shared, shuffled, and traded between the ensemble of ten; modern choreography will be seamlessly woven into the script; original music will be performed live.

Equal parts pithy and poetic, hilarious and heartbreaking, The Earth Shakes reimagines the infamous couple as they set a collision-course toward each other, hurdling toward a future as catastrophic as it is inevitable.

Whatever your worldview, HERON invites you to see it differently.

"You are in that 10% that are pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas."
Brett Love, theater critic

"Somehow the ensemble made the material seem so fresh and new...somehow you guys managed to find the beating heart of the emotions of the words in such a beautiful energetic new way."
