MV Book Festival Opening Event: Tweets, Leaks and Turmoil: Covering the Trump White House
The opening event of the Marthas Vineyard Book Festival is a discussion featuring two high-profile White House reporters: Ashley Parker, of The Washington Post, and Glenn Thrush, of The New York Times, and moderated by nationally syndicated political commentator E.J. Dionne, Jr.

Sponsored by the Vineyard Gazette, the discussion will be followed by a reception.

Thrush is an award-winning political writer, receiving two of the highest citations for presidential coverage by the White House Correspondents Association and awards for journalistic excellence and breaking news coverage. He has authored the New York Times best-selling e-book Obamas Last Stand and co-authored The End of the Line with Jonathan Martin. After emerging as a standout journalist at Politico, Thrush joined the New York Times at the end of 2016.

Parker is a seasoned political reporter who recently joined the Washington Post after 11 years at the New York Times. She has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times Magazine, New York Sun, Chicago Magazine, Glamour, the Huffington Post and Washingtonian.

Dionne is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post and a professor at Georgetown University. He began his career as a reporter for the New York Times and later covered national politics for the Washington Post. He appears weekly as a political commentator on National Public Radio and regularly on MSNBC.

The Marthas Vineyard Book Festival runs through Sunday, August 6 and includes free events and book signings on Saturday in Edgartown and Sunday in Chilmark. For more information about the festival, go to mvbookfestival.com.
