The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband
Debbie Issit's disturbing comedy serves up a spicy new take on the eternal triangle.
Kenneth and Hilary have been married for years but as middle age encroaches, Kenneth finds himself in the arms of another woman. At first, Laura seems to represent everything that Kenneth thought was missing from his life but his little fling spirals out of control and his world becomes one of lies and deceit. Ken leaves Hilary for Laura but there is just one little problem Laura can't cook. As time goes by Ken begins to mourn the loss of Sunday roasts and begins to sneak back to Hilary for the pleasures of her culinary skills. When Hilary invites Kenneth and Laura to come over to have dinner all together, he readily accepts unaware of what delicacies she has planned for the menu. Told through a series of flashbacks interspersed within the last supper this play gives a new meaning to the saying "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach".
