In this class we will focus on the difference between short poems and long poems. The two poets we will refer to are Lucille Clifton and Gwendolyn Brooks. During the workshop portion, you will write a short poem and a long poem using two specific forms and prompts. |
About the Instructor:
Mona Bethke is a poet and Professor at the University of Tampa. She teaches scriptwriting, screenwriting, writing for comedic television, and mass media and society. She also teaches playwriting, flash fiction, and poetry at various venues. Mona completed her MFA in Poetry at the University of Tampa. She has worked with inner city youth using poetry as a means of expression for social conflict, and she hosts First Stop Poetry Fusion Open Mic in St. Petersburg, FL..
