Re-Imagining Hawaii: Creating Our Food, Investing in Our People, Strengthening Our Communities
Honorary Co Chairs First Lady Nancie Caraway and VIcky Cayetano invite you to join us at our annual gala Re-Imagining Hawaii: Creating Our Food, Investing in Our People, Strengthening Our Communities.
Funds will go towards providing small loans to low income individuals and small organizations which have businesses in the local food system. Help us increase the local production, distribution, and consumption of food that is affordable and accessible to all of Hawaii's communities. Join the movement to make Hawaii more food secure.
We all know how lucky we are to live in Hawaii that hosts some of the finest cusine in the world. Food for us, is not only the basis of our health, it is the basis of traditions, customs and culture that bind us together as family and community. Yet if we continue to rely on 85% of our food to be imported, while we export 80% of what we grow, our future becomes uncertain. Fortunately Hawaii has a valuable resource to mobilize in the movement to create a more vibrant local food system, our people. Your support will insure that FTHF continues to provide individuals and organizations with the needed services and capital to grow a small business, to nourish our communities, and to increase the economic well-being of our state.
December 6, 2012 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. Featuring local chefs Ed Kenney and Jeff Vigilla and entertainment by Marlene Sai and Michael Pili Pang and Halau Hula Ka No'eau. For more information, contact Denise Albano at denisalbano@feed-hunger.com
