Strawberry - What Party?
One rainy night in April 2003 exotic dancer Strawberry died in a hail of bullets on Detroit's West Side. A lot of dancers die, but Strawberry was different because a few months earlier she entertained former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick at his alleged Manoogian Mansion bachelor party and his wife beat her up. Who killed Strawberry? Some say the mayor's bodyguard did it to shut her up about the party; others blame Strawberry's jealous boyfriend, a few suspect Strawberry was killed amid a drug hit. Nevertheless, Strawberry's homicide case went cold too fast and those in the know say Kilpatrick himself initiated the cover-up to avoid a nasty scandal. As it were, Strawberry's murder has gone on to become the most notorious,unsolved true crime saga in Detroit history. This compelling story is explored by former Free Press columnist/reporter Carol Teegardin. Teegardin joins award-winning director Mary Bremer-Beer on the stage of Adray Auditorium at Henry Ford College, 5101 Evergreen Rd., Dearborn, Mi. 48128.
