A Vegan Hanukkah

December 2, Atwater: Come light the lights with us! Let's give thanks for all our blessings at Vegan Hanukkah with music, latkes, and joy!

You'll enjoy an Urban Dinner Socials four course traditional-but-vegan meal (menu below) and go home with a mini-cookbook to use during the holidays. All are welcome - please bring your friends of all faiths!

Dinner to be held indoors due to winter weather. Enjoy foyer dining or dinner theatrics in the kitchen!

All-Vegan Menu:

5 Latkes: Potato, Beet, Sweet Potato, Squash, and Carrot
Homemade Applesauce
Cashew Sour Cream
Red Wine and Peppercorn Braised Jackfruit Brisket
Cherry Noodle Kugel
Chickpea Chicken Soup w Lokshen
Warm Fennel Salad
Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Sufganiyot - Jelly Doughnuts
Cookie Craft Activity
Flaming Tea

We'll have a candle lighting and History of Hanukkah, dreidel games, and gift giving (our mini-cookbooks, plus cutout cookies). Come enjoy delicious food and good company, and go home with a recipe book to share with your bubbe.

All dinners are vegan. Local and organic where possible. Food sensitivities accommodated; please let us know.

Produce from Whittier Backyard Farms this week includes chard, kale, squash, celery, lemons, oranges, parsley, thyme, chives, and mint.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. And, our early bird price ($20) ends on Friday at midnight!

Alternately, you're invited to join our volunteer kitchen crew: Purchase a volunteer dinner ticket online for $5 by Saturday at midnight. Arrive at the kitchen at 4:30PM on Sunday and we'll show you what to do from there!

A two-course child's menu is available for $7.

Why local? Supporting a neighborhood farm* means eating healthy, pure, sustainably grown food. It also means a reduced carbon footprint, increased independence for our local economy, and reduced reliance on non-local resources.

Why experimental? Vegan and raw vegan cuisine is the new Wild West for food lovers. We have the most fun pioneering and helping invent this cuisine!
