EMMIT POWELLS HOLIDAY GOSPEL EVENT
The Grammy-nominated Emmit Powell and the Gospel Elites deck the halls with their joyous holiday show, starring the East Bay's own powerhouse talent, Dorothy Morrison. Morrison is the lead vocalist on the Edwin Hawkins Singers' gospel soul classic, "Oh Happy Day," a Grammy winner in 1970. Powell's Gospel Elites are famed for their blues-based inspirational sound, and have shared the stage with Joan Baez at her Christmas concert in San Francisco, appeared at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, and performed all over the world, from Australia to Istanbul. The show also features performances by Rev. Daryl Coley, mime Mr. Byrd, and praise dancer Ms. Tiffany, and is hosted by KDIA's Dorothy Stanton and KPFA's Gabrielle Wilson-Williams.
