The Body in the Woods: How Human Remains are Identified
South County Lifelong Learning August 16 and 23, 10am-12pm
Lorna Pierce, Ph.D., is the Consultant in Forensic Anthropology at the Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office. She is a lecturer at San Jose State University, DeAnza College and Santa Clara University where she teaches "Introduction to Forensic Anthropology." Dr. Pierce regularly consults with and teaches workshops for other law enforcement organizations in the identification of skeletal material.
During the course of her 2 presentations: Dr. Pierce will discuss: How Forensic Anthropologists really identify skeletonized human remains. What questions must be answered. Are Forensic Anthropologists depicted accurately on television show and in print media?
You will have the opportunity to: Examine and "feel" how age is estimated and sex is determined Participate in an exercise just for fun!
