Happy Traum and Del Rey, two influential guitar players, join forces at Caffe Lena for a night of folk, blues, and country-inspired music.

Happy Traum brings new life to the standards of folk music with his distinctive fingerpicking, welcoming vocals, and a style that is both laid-back and bluesy. Since becoming smitten with American folk music as a teenager, Happy Traum has devoted his life to the musical genre: as a folklorist, performer, writer, and teacher. Traum learned directly from the master bluesman, Brownie McGhee, as a youngster, and has played and recorded with legends such as Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Chris Smither, Maria Muldaur, Eric Andersen, Rory Block, Jerry Jeff Walker, Allen Ginsberg, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and innumerable others. As founder of Homespun Tapes he is the author of more than a dozen best-selling guitar instruction books, has written for numerous national publications, and continues to add to his vast repertoire of traditional folk, blues and country songs.

Del Rey, one of the most sublime guitarists of today, has a sound that combines elements of country, blues, classic jazz, and hillbilly boogie. Since picking up her first guitar at the age of four, she has dedicated her life to music. Del Rey is not only an exceptional guitarist, she is also one of the most influential ukulele players. With only four strings to use, she plays the same kind of complicated rhythmic blues and ragtime on the ukulele as she does on the steel guitar.
